Gas Safe Register – replaced CORGI in 2009 as the UK's main gas registration body
If you are using a gas fitter to install your appliance, they must now be registered with the Gas Safe Register. This replaced the well-known CORGI gas register on 1st April 2009. The Fire Place & Stove Centre fitters are registered with Gas Safe Register and are legally allowed to install your new gas fire or stove.
Hetas
In England and Wales, there are only two routes to legally install a domestic solid fuel or wood burning appliance. You can either:
Use a registered installer who can self certify that the work he does complies with the relevant Building Regulations; or
The consumer applies to their local authority building control department for a building notice, and pays the appropriate fee (possibly up to £300).
The Fire Place & Stove Centre fitters are registered with Hetas and are legally allowed to install your solid fuel appliance, saving you time and money.
